A solution to Crowdstrike’s Windows update problem

Many global companies and many Windows users reported system crashes and disturbances on 19-Jul-2024. Cyber security company Crowdstrike’s new update has caused some Windows users to see the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).

In addition to airlines, difficulties in work were also reported by banks, the media, and telecommunications giants.

Microsoft has also spoken out about this worldwide IT problem. They reported that there was a problem in the operation of several services that are based on the “Cloud”, due to which numerous technical difficulties were reported.

“We are continuing to address issues with our ‘365 Apps’ that are in a ‘bad state,'” Microsoft said.

While Crowdstrike is actively working on a fix, take some steps yourself. In the meantime, if you can, use this solution:

– Start the Windows system in Safe mode or in Windows Recovery Environment.
– Go to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory (folder).
– Find the failure starting with “C-00000291*.sys” and delete it.
– Restart your computer normally.
